We are excited to announce the launch of HORUS, a Horizon Europe project coordinated by Universitat de València through the Instituto de Investigación Polibienestar.
This initiative is focused on tackling non-communicable diseases (NCDs), particularly diabetes and cardiovascular diseases, within urban built environments and among vulnerable populations. With this nuanced take on NCDs, HORUS marks a significant step forward in urban health innovation.
As part of the collaboration, Healthy Cities will lead the charge in characterising these urban environments, and analysing the behavioural causal links associated with NCDs. This involves a detailed examination of behaviour and use patterns to better understand the interaction between individuals and their urban environment. Additionally, a new Healthy Cities Generator (HCG) module for citizen participation will be developed, integrating replicable learnings.
Why is this important? Understanding and influencing behaviour is crucial in addressing health challenges in urban settings. The HORUS project allows us to delve into these complexities and develop effective strategies for promoting well-being among the most vulnerable populations of a city, setting the project up to make a meaningful impact on community well-being. Healthy Cities invites everyone to join this journey and stay connected as we share insights, progress, and collaboration opportunities.
