Year: 2024
Co-funded by EIT Urban Mobility, €VALUE (HCG€) is on a mission to understand the economic impact of health-focused urban planning. This year-long initiative promises to help cities value health-promoting urban design by discovering just how much they can save on healthcare by making changes to the built environment.
For the next year, the HCG€ project will bring together over 16 cities from across Europe to test and develop a new solution for building healthy cities. The results promise to help cities understand, prioritise, and advocate for urban planning that supports the holistic wellbeing of their communities.
Powered by a multidisciplinary team of architects and researchers from Bax & Company and the University of Lisbon, the new digital tool will be piloted in the cities of Lisbon, Cascais and Bradford later this year.
Looking ahead at the project’s development, key steps coming up include identifying available data, research into the links between health costs and urban planning, and designing a new, easy to use digital module that integrates data from diverse sources.
