Healthy Cities team member Sofia Aivalioti provides expert support for knowledge generation and sharing in One Health 4 Cities, an URBACT Action Planning Network. The pioneering network unites 9 cities to integrate the One Health approach – connecting human, animal, and environmental health – into urban strategies and projects. Coordinated by the City of Lyon, the network fosters collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovative urban practices to enhance well-being for all.

European cities face multiple intersectoral health challenges such as non-communicable diseases, biodiversity loss, and various forms of pollution. By adopting a One Health approach to these diverse health challenges, European cities can pave the way for healthier, more sustainable, and inclusive urban living that supports all life (human, animal, plant and environment) and supports solutions that will safeguard health holistically.
