We are committed to designing healthier cities.

Our mission is to integrate health and wellbeing into every stage of the urban planning process. With our evidence-driven approach we aim to empower urban planners and policy-makers with the data they need to make informed decisions.

What is a healthy city?

We know that the urban environment can support or hinder health – however, despite growing scientific evidence, health is often left out of the urban planning conversation.

At Healthy Cities, we’ve developed a model to change this. Our multidisciplinary team helps cities to put health at the heart of urban transformation. Through urban planning practice, research and strategy we shape the built environment to help people live healthier lives. Our innovative healthy planning tool, the Healthy Cities Generator, makes integrating health into planning simple.

Our work is built on the latest research showing how the urban environment can impact mental, physical and environmental health outcomes.

Marta Rofin

Co-founder & CEO

Urban planning is not just a technical discipline, but a commitment to placing human well-being at the heart of every single decision.

I think that health is not just a goal of urban planning; it is the most powerful argument we have for reshaping our world. Our challenge is building the bridge between scientific knowledge and urban design. At Healthy Cities, we turn evidence into action, transforming the city into our most effective instrument for public health. My work is focused on designing environments that heal, moving beyond demanding healthy mindsets to creating spaces that make well-being a seamless part of everyday life.
