Welcoming Waseda University to Explore Healthy Urban Planning

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming students and faculty from Tokyo’s prestigious Waseda University to our office in Barcelona. As part of a field trip to Spain, students specializing in Anthropology and Urban Planning joined us to learn firsthand about our approach to health-centered urban design.

Innovation and Debate: Exploring the Healthy Cities Generator

We spent the morning diving into the evolution of healthy urban planning theory and putting concepts into practice using our Healthy Cities Generator tool.

The session sparked a dynamic exchange of perspectives focused on two primary themes:

  • Citizen Engagement: Strategies and methodologies for actively involving the community in shaping their local environment.
  • Planning Frameworks: A comparative look at the contrasting urban contexts and planning approaches between Europe and Japan.

To wrap up the visit, we took a guided walking tour along Consell de Cent street—one of Barcelona’s premier examples of recent urban transformation designed around public health, sustainable mobility, and neighborhood well-being.
